In life we humans have teams. There is your home team that is always there for you no matter what. These people are family and friends who are so close to us that we consider them to be family. This is the bunch we can call at 2am. They were there when you went through heartbreak and there when you went through joy. These people are very dear to our hearts and they mean so much to us. Truthfully at the end of the day, these people are just people. Like you. Like me. We sometimes have expectations that people, especially those on our home team will always be there for us, that they will be rooting for us and cheering us on. Expectations, when unmet lead to disappointment. The messy part of this is seeing that our friends and family are human too. They make mistakes. They are not perfect. They are sinners who also need Jesus. It is hard to see this when you see things one way and your team or a team member doesn't understand. It's hard to see past the hurt. The beauty in hurt is that it always leads us back to Jesus, who is always faithful and in whom our joy and satisfaction is complete. Hebrews 4:15-16 tells us, "For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin. Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need," (ESV). Friends sometimes it is tempting to take our hurt, fear, anger, anxiety and sadness and bring it to others hoping that talking about it will make it go away. My challenge for you (and me) this week: Take it to the throne before you take it to the phone.

Lolo
