The Look for Less: Road Trippin'

Road Trip

This ensemble with basic pieces such as skinny jeans and a white v-neck tee is great for summer road trips. I believe that even if on the road, one should still strive to look great. (Ask any of the junior high or high school students and staff at church. On our way to camp I wore a purple Calvin Klein maxi, silver glitter Bobs and a mint green Geneva watch).
This outfit works because it is fashionable and functional.
I can't wait to wear this outfit in a few weeks on my family's annual 13 hour road trip to Oregon . . .
Females: 4 Car: 1 Memories: Priceless.

Here's a more affordable version:

2. Aviator Sunnies      $5.80
3. Fedora                   $10.39
4. White V-Necks     $12.99
5. Sandals                  $9.80
6. Crossover Bag       $19.80
7. Gold Studs            $11.20
8. Skinny Jeans         $10.80
9. Born and Raised   $9.99

Side notes: The elephant necklace in the Look for Less is more expensive than the first one pictured, but the first one is no longer available. The white v-necks are mens tees. I usually but the 5 or 6 pack of Hanes at Target. They are comfy, not see through and modest, it's a win-win-win situation. The new John Mayer album is my summer soundtrack. I have been listening to it for free here. And for once the physical copy of the album is cheaper than the digital copy, which is great for those of us who are old fashioned and still listen to c.d.s.

Happy summer friends!

Lolo

The Look for Less: Back to Work

Classy

Above is a little virtual mood board I created for my first day back at work. I don't start back until August, but I FINALLY found a decent pencil skirt at Target and have been inspired to build an outfit based upon that one piece. Since most of the items are by Chanel, this look is more of a fantasy than a reality. However, I have found items similar to those pictured above and thought it would be fun to share with all of you. It is important to know that one can dress fabulously well without breaking the bank.

1. Ruby Woo Lipstick by MAC $14.50
3. Similar Watch $19.99
4. Similar Necklace $12.00
7. Similar Blouse $24.00
10. Similar Handbag $62.00

What was your most memorable First Day Back outfit
 when you were in school?

Lolo

Trending Now: Neon

One of the hottest trends this summer is implementing neon colors into one's outfit. It can be as simple as an arm party with a few candy colored bracelets or pairing a neon dress with equally bright accessories. One of the trends I'm currently crushing on is the neon & lace combination. What's fascinating about this combo is that it's sophisticated and bold at the same time. In the great big world of fashion, we are used to seeing either neon or lace, but not both at the same time. This trend is fun and new which is why I can't to try it! What are your favorite trends for summer?

Fashion Faves

Here are my top five favorite fashion blogs:

1. Fash Boulevard
I recently discovered this blog when I saw some of the outfits she created for Lauren's Conrad's contest on Pinterest.

2. Kendi Everyday
I found this blog last year when I did a Google search for wedding blogs (yep, I'm one of those girls). Kendi also writes a blog called Better Off Wed which was how I found Kendi Everyday.

3. Lauren Conrad
Besides having an awesome name, LC also has a great eye for detail. I love her line for Kohl's and that her looks have simple and feminine details.

4. A Pretty Penny
I love that Keira is a florist by day and fashion blogger on the side. It sounds like she has a fairy tale life! I love that her looks are affordable.

5. The Beauty Department
Fashion, my friends, is so much more than clothes. That's why I'm grateful that along with her amazing team, LC gives tips on hair, makeup accessories and more.

If you're a dude, well . . . I got nothin'. But thanks for your readership!

The Polo Shirt Must Die

Don't hate?? Oh no, please do!!!
Finding a balance between style and comfort is imperative in constructing and creating good fashion. This is a difficult balance to achieve and maintain. Attempting to upkeep good fashion is something I almost overlooked a few weeks ago. I was simply running to the store with my little sister to pick up a few things. I did not really want to put much effort into dressing myself, as I was just making a quick trip, so I settled for one of the polo shirts that I have as part of my work uniform. I thought to myself, "Well it's okay to wear it just this once, I'm only going to be out for a little while." Thinking that I even possessed such naivete leaves me disappointed with myself. Let me clarify that it is NEVER, EVER okay to go anywhere at all wearing the cloth disaster typically known as the polo shirt...not even if you are a model for Ralph Lauren!!! For all of you who have suffered through the restrictions placed upon you by dress codes (prep school & private school kiddies you know what I'm talking about), my heart goes out to you. There is nothing more embarrassing than having to dress yourself everyday knowing that the shirt you are wearing really only works best with mom jeans, a fanny pack or socks and sandals (for those of you who failed to pick up on the sarcasm, this would be NEVER!). Although many try to rock the preppy style (and it can be rocked) please remember when doing so, do us all a favor by relieving us from the nightmares we experience every time someone wears one of these depressing excuses for fashion, and forgo the polo.
Love,
Lolo

P.S. Tonight when I told my parents I wanted to post a blog titled : The Polo Shirt Must Die, my dad said, "Hey, I'm wearing a polo shirt!" To which I said, (and thought): "Yeeaahhh, that's kinda my point..."
